The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, represented by the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Board, participated in the UITT International Tourism Fair in Kyiv, Ukraine, from May 11 to 13, with the aim of boosting tourist traffic from Ukraine.
Mr. Ahmed Yusuf, CEO of the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Board, explained that the UITT exhibition is one of the largest international tourism and professional events in Ukraine, stressing that the Ukrainian market is one of the most important tourist markets for Egypt, which has witnessed a great development in terms of the volume of tourism traffic and numbers coming from it during the last few years, and that it is one of the first markets that has seen a large tourist influx to Egypt since the country resumed tourism in July 2020.
Mr. Ahmed Youssef, who led the Egyptian delegation at the exhibition, noted that this year the ministry participated in a 27-square-meter pavilion designed in the style of poles of ancient Egyptian temples, and was equipped with the latest technological means, from large screens to display propaganda materials from films and pictures of various Egyptian tourist destinations.
The Egyptian pavilion has witnessed a remarkable turnout by visitors to the exhibition and interested in Egyptian tourism, and the distribution of gifts and various tourist bulletins to the visitors of the pavilion and the response to their inquiries regarding tourism and travel to Egypt.
Professor Ahmed Yusuf pointed out that professional meetings were held during his participation in the exhibition to document the cooperation between Egyptian and Ukrainian officials in the field of travel and tourism, as he well as participated in the round table organized in the presence of the President of the National Tourism Organization of Ukraine, tour organizers, representatives of tourism federations in the Ukrainian market and representatives of government agencies from other countries in the tourism and aviation sector, where many of the most important topics were discussed. Precautionary measures and hygiene safety controls that are applied in all tourist and hotel facilities, archaeological sites, and museums, especially with the return of tourism traffic, and Egypt's obtaining the certificate of safe destination from the International Travel and Tourism Council, and discussed the number of tourists recorded by official statistics before and after the Corona crisis, in addition to the continued efforts of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities to provide the necessary facilities to vaccinate all workers in the tourism sector with vaccines and vaccines against Coronavirus in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Population to ensure the safety of tourism workers, citizens, and tourists.
The Ceo also explained the continuation of the efforts and facilitation provided by the Egyptian government to support the tourism sector, as well as the incentives provided by the Egyptian state to encourage companies and tour operators from the beginning of the Corona pandemic and till now.
During meetings with tour operators at Coral Travel, TUI, Join-Up, Annex Tours, Tez Tours, Mr. Ahmed Yusuf reviewed the new controls of joint campaigns and the aviation incentive program. The meetings also discussed the presentation of the promotional plan for Egypt, pointing out that the ministry's plan in promotion and revitalization depends on the use of advanced methods and the implementation of effective promotion mechanisms, which aims to diversify the platforms of promotion and global communication and update the marketing possibilities that work to raise awareness of Egypt's tourism components, as well as to provide and enhance the positive image of Egypt.
The Ceo also met with the President of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry UCCI which is the tourism authority in charge of the Ukrainian private sector, during which he stressed the importance of working to drive tourism traffic, and working to direct the attention of Ukrainian tourists towards various Egyptian tourist products and patterns that meet all the needs of tourists in their different segments and cultures besides leisure and beach tourism that attracts Ukrainian tourists in the first place.
The President of the Chamber expressed his happiness at the continued fruitful cooperation between the two countries in various fields, especially in the field of tourism and travel.
Professor Ahmed Yusuf added that several media and press meetings were held with the Ukrainian and international media during which the focus was on clarifying the steps taken by the ministry to mitigate the negative effects of coronavirus and reduce its spread, as he pointed out that the ministry recently held international partnerships to conduct promotional campaigns for Egyptian tourist destinations abroad, as well as the work of an integrated and cumulative strategy for sustainable tourism systematically to revive tourism movement to Egypt in accordance with a long-term plan and with the developments resulting from the Corona pandemic, especially since Egypt has been witnessing a steady increase in tourist numbers since early July 2020.
UITT is one of the largest tourist exhibitions with 361 exhibitors from 23 countries around the world and nearly 19,000 visitors visiting the exhibition during its annual session.
