In cooperation with the General Administration of Museum Education for People with Special Needs at the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Board organized a number of artistic workshops for people with special needs and cancer patients in Alexandria.
These workshops are within the framework of the "Hand in Hand" initiative launched by the Ministry represented by the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Board this month for people with special needs and cancer patients.
Mrs. Iman Mahmoud, Head of the domestic tourism sector at the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Board, said that two painting workshops were organized, one at the Alexandria National Museum, and the other in Citadel of Qaitbay.
The museum workshop included a lecture on Arabic letters and their uses and the meaning of the word "tourism", to celebrate the International Day of the Arabic Language. Participants in the workshop took memorial photos inside the galleries of the museum.
Mohamed Metwally, Director of Antiquities of Alexandria and the North Coast, said that another drawing workshop was organized at the Citadel of Qaitbay in Alexandria to introduce them to the place and its touristic and archaeological importance. He added that the workshop showed the artistic talents and distinctive abilities of some of the participants.
Promotional materials on Alexandria were distributed on the participants.
In a related context, the office in Alexandria organized a seminar in a school entitled “Encouraging domestic tourism,” in cooperation with the Egyptian Railways Office and Alexandria West Media Center, in order to raise the tourism and archaeological awareness among citizens.
The organization of this symposium is part of the "Know Your Country" initiative launched by the ETPB during the period from December 2020 to March 2021.
Mr. Magdy El Gharib, Director of the Alexandria West Media Center, stressed during his speech on the importance of identifying the landmarks of the city of Alexandria, which contains many archaeological monuments and touristic attractions.
During the symposium, the film “A Tourist’s Journey in Egypt”, launched by the Ministry as part of its promotional campaign Same Great Feelings, was played. Its content and the purpose of its production were presented as its main message is to reassure visitors that Egypt implements all hygiene regulations.
The "Know Your Country" initiative aims to revive domestic tourism and introduce young people to touristic places, so that everyone can be an ambassador for Egyptian tourism. It also highlights the different types of tourism.
