The Ottoman reign (923-1220 A.H/ 1517-1805 A.D) began when Sultan Saliem I defeated the Mamluks Sultan Toman Bay at the battle of Ar-Raydanya in 1517 A.D, and entered Cairo and occupied Egypt, then Egypt changed from being the seat of the Caliphate to be an Ottoman dependent state.

The Ottoman reign for Egypt stayed till the coming of the French Campaign in Egypt in 1798 A.D till 1801 A.D, and then the Ottoman reign back again till 1805 A.D.
