In celebration of International Museum Day, which falls on May 18 of each year, all antiquities museums nationwide that are affiliated with the Supreme Council of Antiquities open their doors on this day for free to their Egyptian visitors.
Dr. Mohamed Ismail Khaled, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, explained that this comes within the framework of the Egyptian museum sector’s strategy to participate in all local and international heritage and cultural activities and occasions, as part of its plan to raise archaeological, cultural and tourism awareness among all its visiting audiences and attract all members of Egyptian society from its various sects and groups.
