The joint Egyptian-American archaeological mission between the Supreme Council of Antiquities and the University of Colorado, operating in the Ashmunein region in al-Minya Governorate, succeeded in uncovering the upper part of a colossal statue of King Ramses II during their excavation.
The Secretary-General of the SCA confirmed that the archaeological study conducted on the discovered upper part of the statue proved that it belongs to the lower part that was discovered by the German archaeologist G. Roeder in 1930.
