Egypt celebrates, on the first of June each year, the commemoration of the Holy Family's journey into its lands, marking an exceptional historical and spiritual journey that is considered one of the oldest religious travels in the world.
The journey began in the city of Rafah in the east, passing through Al-Farma, Tel Basta, Sakha, Samanoud, and Wadi Al-Natroun, where monasteries such as St. Bishoy, the Syrians, Abu Macar, and Baramos serve as witnesses to this sacred journey.
The Holy Family also visited Mostord, Mary’s Tree in Al-Matariya, Al-Zuwaila Church, Abu Serga Church in Old Cairo, and Al-Maadi Church, ultimately reaching Mount El-Teir in Minya, and then the Monastery of Al-Muharraq in Asyut, which houses the first church consecrated by Christ.
The Egyptian Christians celebrate this occasion through what is known as "Mawlid." Along the path of the Holy Family, massive attendance is seen at this event, particularly at the Drenka Cave, Al-Muharraq Monastery, and the Church of the Virgin Mary at Mount El-Teir
