Every year on this day, the whole world celebrates International Museum Day (IMD). Annually it's brought to the masses under different themes, and
this year's theme is "Museums for Education and Research".
The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities offers free entry visits to Egyptians in all antiquities museums, except for the GEM and the NMEC, as well as organizing various archaeological exhibitions, art and educational workshops and seminars.
In celebration of International Museum Day, which falls on May 18th of each year, all antiquities museums nationwide that are affiliated with the Supreme Council of Antiquities will be free of charge to Egyptians, except for the Grand Egyptian Museum and the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization.
Museums will also hold a number of exhibitions, temporary archaeological and artistic activities, events, seminars, and educational and artistic workshops for visitors.
Visitors will be able to enjoy free guided tours to learn about each museum and the unique archaeological collections it houses.
