Discovery of a royal doctor's mastaba from the Old Kingdom in Saqqara
In the south of the Saqqara archaeological area, where the tombs of senior statesmen from the Old Kingdom era are, the joint French-Swiss archaeological mission discovered a mud-brick terrace with an imaginary door bearing distinct inscriptions and drawings, belonging to a doctor named “Titi-nebfu,” who had lived during the reign of King Pepi II. He held a whole series of titles related to his high positions, including chief palace physician and priest of the goddess Serket.
