Today we take you on a tour inside an exquisite palace overlooking the Nile, Al-Manasterly palace. Also known as the Kiosk, this palace was built by Hassan Fouad Pasha Al-Manasterly, Katkhoda of Egypt during the reign of Abbas Toson son of Muhammad Ali Pasha.
It was built at the tribal side of the island of Al-Rawda on the ruins of the Sultan Najm al-Din Palace, which dates back to the Ayyubid era.
We also take you on a tour inside one of the oldest islamic monuments found, the Nilometer. Dating back to the Abbasid era, the nilometer is located on the southern tip of Rhoda island and was used for measuring the River Nile’s water level during the annual flood season.
