Dr. Khaled El Enany, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, accompanied by Dr. Zahi Hawass, former Minister of Antiquities, and Dr. Mostafa Waziry, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, visited the excavations of the Egyptian archaeological mission working next to the pyramid of King Titi I in Saqqara archeological site. The mission is headed by Dr. Zahi Hawass. The excavations resulted in the discovery of burial shafts with coffins and huge archaeological findings from the New Kingdom.
Dr. Zahi Hawass confirmed that this discovery, which will be announced early next year, will shed light on an unknown part of the history of Saqqara. He added that it will also unveil the secrets of the burial grounds of the 18th and 19th dynasties in Saqqara.
Dr. Khaled El Enany went down one of the burial shafts with Dr. Zahi Hawass and Dr. Mostafa Waziry, to see the discovery.
The Minister also thanked Dr. Zahi Hawass and his team for their efforts, expressing his pride in the unique Egyptian civilization and that all these amazing discoveries were by Egyptians.
